Y. S. I do not know what the original smells like but I really like this fragrance. I think it does a great job of using gourmand with non-gourmand notes to give the cocoa notes sophisticated depth. If you like ambergris/ambroxan and strong woodsy notes (like the cedar note that is mentioned), then you will likely appreciate this fragrance, too. I categorize it as an evening autumn/winter fragrance and better suited to low humidity weather. People with skin that leans toward being dry would likely benefit from it more during hot and humid weather. I imagine this would smell good on both women and men, but some may think it leans more feminine. To my nose, it smells very slightly reminiscent of Baccarat Rouge 540's scent profile.
